INTERVIEW WITH KMS GLOBAL STYLE COUNCIL MEMBER, SAM BURNETT
How does style matter in London?
The London fashion scene is home to “anything goes” (but still looks amazing) style.
Royalty, punk, high tea and High Street all merge together, creating a unique
style that is truly London. Sam Burnett, KMS Global Style Council Member from South London, talks about London style—and what inspires him in the square mile.
Where do you find inspiration in London?
I think the street culture in London is so vibrant, especially in Northeast London and the emerging art scene in South London. I head there for street style inspiration: I love to people watch in Stoke Newington and Peckham or I go to Brixton to catch up with friends and talk about style over a cup of tea. I also get inspired by art and I visit the V&A Museum to check out their latest exhibitions.
What’s special about London style?
Whether you’re hanging out in one of the city’s many parks (my favorite is Regents Park) or hopping on the tube heading to one of the amazing markets, the city is so eclectic. Yet, you can really feel that style matters to everyone – in their own way. The city comes alive during Fashion Week, and that’s one of the best times to get a taste of what London style is all about.
Do you see “London” in the styles we see here?
Terrence and Elina’s looks are classic London. They’re elegant and sophisticated, yet still stylish and practical.
INSPIRATION: THE CITY OF SEOUL IS A JUXTAPOSITION OF
HYPERMODERN SKYSCRAPERS AND CENTURIES-OLD BUDDHIST TEMPLES, PALACES AND STREET MARKETS.
SYDNEY IS THE HOME OF ACCEPTANCE AND DIVERSITY. STYLE
IS INDIVIDUAL AND WHILE WE HAVE TRENDS, WE EMBRACE EVERYBODY’S UNIQUE LOOKS AND CALL IT “STYLE.”
