INTERVIEW WITH GLOBAL STYLE COUNCIL MEMBER, KENNY CHOW
The city of Seoul is a juxtaposition of hypermodern skyscrapers and centuries-old Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. And it’s quickly becoming the style capital of Asia, with a fashion that’s just as contradictory as the city itself. KMS met with Kenny to learn about where he finds inspiration
We hear you’re quite often in Seoul. What’s style like there?
I love to visit Seoul; I think it’s the most fashionable city in Asia. There’s such a colorful mix of street styles, heavily influenced by K-pop. But the hottest emerging designers can also be found in Seoul, so even the most casual looks feature designer labels.
Where do you get inspiration from?
When I go to Seoul, I love to check out the style of the university students in Hongdae — I always come away inspired. In general, I get inspiration from the world around me. When I create looks, I like to use my imagination and take risks. I don’t want to copy things I’ve seen, but rather learn from them and twist them in a cool way.
SYDNEY IS THE HOME OF ACCEPTANCE AND DIVERSITY. STYLE
IS INDIVIDUAL AND WHILE WE HAVE TRENDS, WE EMBRACE EVERYBODY’S UNIQUE LOOKS AND CALL IT “STYLE.”
